Friday, May 5th - 2008 - Latest happenings...
|
I'll be the first to admit that I've been slacking off on the updates lately - but here's an overview of what's been going on lately - and some extra goodies.
photographyexhibition.net - online and ready to go. Although the site is lacking a lot of content, the site is running and should see updates shortly once I get my newest (and last for a while) project finished this week. Curtis took the printed Exhibition down to Calgary for the Junior National Tournament and I was lucky enough to hang around for the weekend - meanwhile Curt had to run back to Edmonton to pursue other projects. I had the pleasure of meeting the three Olympic Taekwondo atheletes, all of whom are awesome people...it was actually nice to hear some fluent french again - makes me miss my Montreal days all the more. Anyway, the overall responce of the exhibition with the general public was nothing but positive. So...hopefully more in the near future with this gig.
I'm in the process of giving instantmemories.com a facelift - should be online by the end of this week...in theory. If not, my name will be Mudd.
I'm glad to report that I'll finally have new camera gear this summer - as well as a new laptop and a fully custom PC to kick some RAW image ass. Which means - new photo work soon! Finally. Among other things. Music?
Speaking of music - tonight a friend of mine and fellow designer threw a random YouTube link
at me tonight...which turned into me actually spending money for an online album download. Ronald Jenkees is an independently driven musician - of the digital and synth form, and is nothing short of brilliant. I think Ronald is just such a nerd - but his attitude and personality toward his music (and being creative in general) is something all artists of any form can appreciate and have in the back of their brains - creating and being motivated simply for the fun and enjoyment of it.
Give yourself an eargasm and take a look/listen at this video - which is the first one I had the pleasure of listening to. His current 2007 album release is quite mellow compared to this track (with the exception of two random little raps at the end of it )- but judging by this random "disorganized fun", I'll personally be waiting patiently for his 2008 summer release.
Lastly, my server hosts finally upgraded to PHP v.5, so my little script I had running which showed my recently played albums isn't working...until of course I have time to update it (which is funny, because I had to email the writer for a fix for PHP v.4 to get it working in the first place...).
Cheers.

Friday, March 7th - 2008 - Taekwondo Canada
|
Introducing - what will likely be one of most exciting projects I've worked on - and possibly will work on. Myself and Edmonton local professional photography Curtis Comeau (Instant Memories, Eternal Images) will be constructing a full website and print media exhibit showcasing the Canadian Olympic Taekwondo Team and their experience at the recent trial tournaments which were just held in China. Canada had a brilliant run and managed to take home 1 Gold and 2 Bronze medals. I can't wait to see how they do this summer at the Olympics.
Curtis himself attended the event and spend the time shooting the Canadian team - covering everything from practise sessions, tournament fights and even less serious social settings - a side of the team that I doubt many people ever see.
Much to the pleasure of Curtis and I - the IOC itself has expressed interest in the project. We're hoping to have things finished by the end of March - at which point I will certainly make an anoucement here. Details on when and where the Exhibit will take place remains to be decided.

Monday, March 4th - 2008 - ghost.nin.com
|
In a never-before-heard-of suprise attack on the music world - Trent Reznor released a 36 track/Four part instrumental Album titled "Ghosts I-IV". The shocking thing: He released it online completely by suprise without any prior notice.
For free.
At least some of it. Part I of the album is free, but users in the USA can purchase the entire four parts for a mere $5. The man is brilliant really. There are other options as far as fancy packages and such - one of which included a $300 dollar kit with vinyl autographed by Mr. Reznor himself. The packaging for the setup is by far the most elaborate and aesthetically pleasing piece of work he's ever put out.
Ever since Trent shook himself free of the restrictions of a record label, he's been doing everything possible to embrace digital music - including putting up part of this release on NIN's own official Torrent upload/download. How awesome is that.
Anyway. Buy it. Download it - check it out: nin.com |

Monday, March 3rd - 2008 - Fresh New Look
|
It's that time again - the bright sunny weather has motivated me to give the site a facelift - and in light of all of the new work I've been doing lately, it's high time I get some of it on here for those wanting to view the splendid pieces.
I have a good feeling about this coming summer - I'll finally be back into the world of photography and all that it entails.
But that said - I'll just end it off with a thanks for poping by...enjoy the new site (and content). |
